Products and Services: Stereo Vision Products: Multiclops™

Point Grey Research's IEEE-1394 (FireWire) Stereo Vision camera systems are provided as complete hardware and software packages. Every Point Grey Stereo Vision camera system includes a free copy of the FlyCapture SDK, which is used for image acquisition and camera control, and the Triclops SDK, which performs image rectification and stereo processing. Additional stereo vision software components are available at no extra cost: the Censys3D SDK, which is ideal for people tracking; and the Multiclops software, which allows integration of multiple cameras into a single coordinate system.

The MulticlopsT software allows users to easily overcome the field-of-view and line-of-sight restrictions that often result from using a single Stereo Vision camera system by integrating data from multiple Stereo Vision cameras systems into a single coordinate system. Point Grey Stereo Vision camera owners can download this for free from our downloads page.

Single Coordinate System
  • Allows users to solve line-of-sight and field-of-view restrictions imposed by single unit systems
  • Integrates data from multiple Point Grey Stereo Vision cameras into a single coordinate system
  • Leverages the existing camera calibration system, allowing users to perform a simple procedure in order to accurately determine the transformation between multiple Point Grey Stereo Vision camera systems
  • Accurate, automatic, 6DOF transformation calculation that can result in accuracies to within 2mm

System Calibration
  • The system leverages the existing camera calibration, allowing users to perform a simple procedure in order to accurately determine the transformation between multiple Point Grey Stereo Vision camera systems.
  • Once the system to system transformation has been determined, applications rely on the camera's ability to automatically synchronize to other cameras on the same IEEE- 1394 bus in order simultaneously grab images. These images are then processed using the Triclops™ SDK and the resultant data can then be transformed and integrated into a single coordinate system.
