Issue:
Determining the firmware version used by a Point Grey camera.
Solution:
Firmware is programming that is inserted into the programmable read-only memory (programmable ROM) of many Point Grey cameras (not the Firefly or Firefly2). Firmware is created and tested like software. When ready, it can be distributed like other software and installed in the programmable read-only memory by the user. To download the latest version of firmware for your camera, go to our downloads section.
There are three ways to determine the firmware version number of your camera:
- Run flycap.exe, LadybugCap.exe or LadybugCapPro.exe and open the Camera Control dialog > Info/Support pane.
- Run flycap.exe, LadybugCap.exe or LadybugCapPro.exe and open the Camera Control dialog > Registers pane, then Get Register 1F60h - this register contains the version information for the firmware (in hex). For more information on this register, see the Point Grey Digital Camera Register Reference.
- If you're implementing your own code, use flycaptureGetCameraRegister() or LadybugGetRegister().
